Clerk.AI for Windows

It is free, and it runs the full monthly close: your bank statements, the receipts and invoices in your mail and supplier portals, and the email to your accountant. One difference from the Mac: it does not read your photo library, so it finds fewer receipts. Read these before you decide.

Windows may warn you the first time

It may say “Windows protected your PC”. The installer is signed by Augmented Mind AB; the warning is SmartScreen saying it has not seen this installer often yet, and it goes away as more people install it. Choose More info → Run anyway.

There is a made-up month to try it on

During setup it offers to fetch a made-up company's books, so you can watch it work with nothing of yours involved, the same demo the Mac has. It is new on Windows, so if it misbehaves, that is worth telling us and is not your fault.

You need your own AI subscription to run a close

Clerk.AI runs on your own AI subscription: Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI, through Codex). It drives Claude Code or Codex to do the work, so a close cannot start without one. The app says what is missing and offers to install it for you. Installing it is free; running a close needs one of those subscriptions. If you do not have one, tell us and we will find you another way to help, and please do not buy one for this.

It does not read your photo library

On a Mac it finds receipts you photographed; on Windows it does not look at all. It still reads your mail, your supplier portals and your bank statement, so a close here finds fewer receipts than the same close on a Mac, which is worth knowing before you judge what it came back with.

If something is wrong, the app can tell us

There is a “Something wrong here? Tell us” link in the app. It shows you exactly what it would send before it sends anything, and it carries the logs, which is what makes a report worth acting on.

Your books are files you can open

Everything is markdown in a folder on your own PC. Nothing is locked in, and uninstalling leaves that folder alone.
